Job Requirements of Maintenance Mechanic:
• QUALIFICATIONS , EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least three years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant must have valid drivers license. Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
PHYSICAL & SAFETY DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift to 40lbs, occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. All must be completed with a “safety first” compliance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and a non-environmentally controlled work area. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.

Maintenance Mechanic
Maintenance Mechanic – Indianapolis Plant
SUMMARY: Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on all mechanical equipment and the facility as a whole.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts, etc. all work is recorded in Mpulse, our software program that helps manage the PM program.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. Listens to and works with members performing the duties to aide in equipment diagnosis.
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Understands the importance of scheduled downtime versus unscheduled downtime.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- C leans and inspects all assigned equipment.
- Co mpletes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Will operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and/or use for inputting repairs made or PM’s done.
- Re sponds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- A ssists with the renovation/remodeling/upkeep of building and grounds.
- Perfo rms outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Ma y obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
- Treats other members with courtesy and respect while performing all duties.
